Mahakali Mandir

Mahakali Mandir is one of the ancient Mandir of Chandrapura. According to the tradition, the kali idol which is in this temple was near the Zarapat river and as per the command of the Gonda dynasty Queen Hirawati, this temple was forged and the hero was placed in the sanctum around the 16th century. The figure on the wall of this Mahakali temple is the mix of spectacular Hindu and Tibetian tradition.

The people who travel to Tadoba National Park via Moharli gate don’t miss to visit this temple and this Mahakali temple is just 38 km away from the Tadoba Tiger Reserve.

Chandrapur Fort

The ancient forts of Chandrapur take the excursionists back to the heritage of the Gond Dynasty. One similar fort is the Chandrapur fort, which is in the convergence of Irai and Zarpat rivers. In the 13th century, Gond King Khandkya Ballal Sah initiated the construction of this massive stronghold but this was completed by the king Dhundya Ram Sah in the 16th Century. This huge gravestone structure has noble and detailed carvings on the walls and it's elevated to 15-20 bases high.

There are 8 gates to the forts, videlicet Jatpura Gate (north), Anchaleshwar (east), Pathanpura (south) and Binba Gate (west), Bagad Khidki (northeast), Hanuman Khidki (southeast), Vithoba Khidki (southwest) and Chor Khidki (northwest). It has mausoleums erected in the memory of Gond lords and these mausoleums are adjecent to the Anchaleshwara temple which is inside the fort and this is the very interesting part of this fort. The significant mausoleums are that which was built by Queen Rani Hirai in the memory of her hubby, who ruled the Gond Dynasty around 1704. From Tadoba Tiger Reserve, Chandrapur stronghold is at a distance of 37 Km.

Balaji Mandir

Hari Balaji tabernacle was built way back 350 times ago during the rule of Bhosales. Balaji temple is the most significant and very famous temple of Chandrapur and one of the most visited places in Chimur. The Balaji is similar to the Venkateshwara idol of Thirupati.

Manikgarh Fort

In Chandrapur District there are two ancient forts which are Manikgarh or Manikgad or Gadchandur. Manikgarh fort is a hill fort which is 507 metres above the sea position, it was buit by the last king of Mana Naga – Gahilu in the 9th century. This fort has its name given from the patron deity of Mana Nagas – Manikadevi, but in after days it was called Manikgad.

Manikgarh Fort is in a place called Gadchandur, it’s about 85 km away from Tadoba Tiger Reserve.

Ballarpur Fort

This fort also called as a Ballarshah Fort and it is located in Ballarpur City. It’s on the east bank of wardha river. Ballarpur Fort was constructed of large black stones and was a sign of defense of those times. The fort is in the cube shape, though the old structure is ruined, the fortification walls are still complete. Ballarpur Fort is 50 km down from the Tadoba Tiger Reserve and just 37 km down from our resorts in Tadoba.
